Krisztina Zur won the only medal for the United States on Friday at the 2011 Sprint World Championships.
Zur finished 2.08 seconds behind Tamara Csipes of Hungary in the women's K1 1000m to take the silver medal.
Two-time Olympian Carrie Johnson finished fifth in the women's kayak semifinal to advance to Saturday's K1 500m B final. She will also compete for an Olympic slot for Team USA in the Women's K1 200m event.
Robert Finlayson finished seventh in the C1 1000m C final with a time of 4:38.60, 18.53 behind the winner.
The biggest disappointment of the day was the failure of the men's K4 boat. Luke Michael, Jake Michael, Pat Dolan and Morgan House finished eighth in their semifinal and did not advance to the 1000m final.
"Unfortunately, our K4 Olympic dream came to an end today," Jake Michael said in a statement released by USA Canoe/Kayak. "We had been feeling great and doing some fast times coming into today. We did our best on the day and, unfortunately, on the day in the conditions we were dealt, our best was not quite good enough."
Sprint national team coach Guy Wilding repeated Michael's sentiments: "I was very disappointed for the men's K4 1000m as they have improved tremendously since [the] April selection trials. But the strong headwind just did not suit the crew and they were not good enough on the day. Similarly, Carrie Johnson raced into the same conditions and this also did not suit her."
